Lane Sharing Can be a Reality in Oregon.

Folks, asking your help, please!

I’m part of the team that has been working, for the last year, on Oregon’s 2019 lane sharing bill: House Bill 2314 (

HB2314 has 19 sponsors (over one-fifth of the entire legislature!). Broken down by party, sponsors include 11 Democrats and eight Republicans. By house, 11 Representatives and eight Senators. There’s also a healthy mix of urban, suburban, and rural districts.

On Wednesday, 20 February, the Joint Transportation Committee is holding a hearing on the bill.  PLEASE HELP by submitting written testimony to the committee, by the end of the day Monday, February 18th.  We do not need people to come to Salem to testify, but your written testimony is ESSENTIAL.

Here’s what to do:
1.  Write an email beginning with something like: — “I respectfully request your support of HB2314”– “Please vote YES on HB2314”– “I hope you support HB2314” — etc.
2.  Add the reasons YOU support HB2314.  If you need inspiration, visit the bill’s website ( or read the one-page summary statement (  You can write as much or as little as you’d like, but please use your own words.  (Please do not include your home address in the email, as committee testimony becomes part of the public record.)

3.  Send the email to by the END OF DAY, MONDAY FEBRUARY 18th.

4.  Ask two friends to do (1) through (3) above.  Forward them this email!
Your testimony helps persuade committee members to support HB2314!  This will only take a couple minutes … time you’ll get back when the bill passes.  We are counting on you!  Numbers matter here!  Be part of the solution!!!

Any questions please don’t hesitate to give me a shout.
